SPS Microgrids recently concluded the installation of a 237.8 kWp Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system at the I E S Cen­tre in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham. This facility, a multi-tenanted indus­trial estate under the management of a single operator, posed a unique challenge due to its diverse tenant base. Notably, one tenant, a plastic injection moulding compa­ny, contributed significantly to the site’s high carbon out­put, making it a crucial target for sustainability measures.

The I E S Centre’s collective annual grid consumption exceeds 1,200,000 kWh, prompting SPS Microgrids to devise an innovative solution. The company successfully executed a technically intricate PV installation, deploying 237.8 kWp of East/West mounted, non-penetrative solar panels. These panels were strategically connected to three different distribution boards, resulting in a substantial reduction of the overall site load by more than 25%.
